Owner

It continues to be his pleasure to operate as Chief Pilot of Front Range Flight School where people can come together and be around like minded individuals who are passionate about aviation and work to help each become better pilots.

Whether it is seeing a young person mature in front of him as they learn what it means to be a pilot, or hearing an adult student who has flown their first solo thank him for helping to realize a lifelong dream it is these experiences that will continue to drive his and our passion for aviation at Front Range Flight School.

Kyle’s aviation career began on April Fool’s Day, 2021. After graduating from CU Boulder in 2019 with degrees in English and Philosophy, he worked as a magazine editor in the health and wellness space for 3 years. The desire to try something new pushed him to receive his Private Pilot’s License in April 2022, and the journey continued as he received his Instrument Rating, Commercial Single Engine Land, and CFI certificates throughout 2022 and early 2023.
When he’s not flying, you can find him hiking 14ers, rock climbing, or cycling.

Murray hawthorn flight instructor

Murray Hawthorne

Flight Instructor

A native of Michigan, following ROTC and an undergraduate degree from Michigan State University, Murray’s aviation career started as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army back in 1987. After 10 years, 1,000+ flight hrs, service at USAAVNC as a UH-60A Blackhawk helicopter CFII, and promotion to the rank of Major, he decided to leave active duty Army aviation in exchange for a career in the medical device manufacturing industry. His interest in aviation reignited 15 years later when he added ASEL credentials to his Commercial RW and CFII certificates. His ASEL cross country day, night, IMC experience exceeds 60,000 NM with destinations including Naples Fl, Rutland VT, Mackinaw Island MI, Anchorage AK, Bellingham WA, Santa Ana CA, and over 60 airports in between. He says he added the AGI and IGI ratings to his Ground Instructor Certificate “just for the fun of it.”

Niko Stathopoulos

Flight Instructor

Paul Meyer

Flight Instructor

Raised in Connecticut, Paul’s first flight was in a glider out of Randall Airport in New York after Soloing at 16, Paul did what the instructors at the gliderport said he would and got into cars and motorcycles. It wasn’t until after studying physics in college that he returned to aviation.
He has spent most of his time flying in central Florida and Colorado.
He is a CFI, CFII and MEI.
He loves all things mechanical and spends his free time learning new and sometimes less than useful skills.
Tim sale flight instructor

Tim Sale

Flight Instructor

Tim Sale has been flying in the Rockies for almost 40 years. His first mountain experience was in a Piper J-3 Cub. The J-3 Cub is grossly underpowered and flying one in the mountains takes a lot of skill.

Tim’s students come from all over the USA and Canada to learn how to fly in the Rockies.

His approach is to teach pilots how to safely fly in the mountains, not just over them.

Tim will develop your skills on how to extract the maximum performance from your aircraft and use the terrain conditions in the mountains to their greatest extent.

wade wood flight instructor

Wade Wood

Flight Instructor

Wade Wood first received his pilot license back in 1978. Over the course of the next two years he received his commercial license, instrument rating and his instructor rating. Wade then worked as an air traffic controller for the next twenty-five years at the Denver AARTC (Denver Center). After retiring in 2007, Wade decided to return to flight instruction and received his Instrument Instructor rating. Wade Wood holds ASEL Instructor rating and Instrument Instructor rating.
